This week went by way fast, actually this whole cycle went by super
fast, transfers are next week so we'll see if I stay in Kingsbridge or
leave to some other place, I don't mind staying here at all because
this ward and the members are way cool and I made some really good
friends here but at the same time it would also be pretty cool to go
and work in a different area preferably Harlem because it would be
awesome to serve in Manhattan but I know where ever I go is where the
lord wants me so I'm not complaining.
On Friday we were sitting on the bus going back home to eat dinner and
this one guy and a lady came on the bus and sat by us, we decided to
talk to them and we basically taught them the restoration and the plan
of salvation at the same time, it was way awesome and then we got
their contact info because they were super interested and wanted to
learn more, we were super happy that we ran into these people and we
can't wait to teach them again.
Sunday we had Matthew our 15 year old investigator he is way cool and
he is progressing a lot but he wanted to go to the English ward
instead of the Spanish because he speaks more English so that means we
will have to give them up to our English zone leaders speaking of them
(elder moss and elder tabor are way cool, elder tabor lives in
California and I'm defiantly hanging out with him when I get back cuz
he's super cool) but anyways it would still be awesome if he got
baptized without me teaching him all the way because it's another soul
that would come closer to Christ.
Tuesday was also a really good day we got this one lady to open her
door when we were tracting and we were able share the message with her
and she was super receptive and wants us to come over again so that's
awesome, then we had a really good lesson with a guy names Austin he
is a another cool investigator also English and but we shared with him
the plan of salvation. After that we had a super good lesson with a
less active and he opened up to us super fast, it was out first time
meeting with him because he always juked us but I think he will start
being active again because in the lesson that we had with him the
spirit was way good and strong. Later that night we got a call from a
guy named Raul, he was a referral form the zone leaders, before
earlier that day we called him and went by his house to see if he
actually wanted to learn but he never answered and wasn't home so we
thought he was like everybody else and doesn't care but he called us
and set up a teaching appointment for tomorrow, this guy seems like a
solid person and we are really excited to teach him.
Also I don't know if you guys remember Aileen, we were teaching her
like 5 weeks ago and then she stopped progressing and we never could
get in contact with her, well it turns out that the super of the
building that they live in doesn't like the Mormons and he told them
we could never go to their house again and he actually kicked them out
of their house, I felt super bad because that happened to them because
of us, especially because her bother is the second counsellor and is
super solid in the gospel, but they already found a different place to
live, I hope that it's better then the last one.
I hope you all have a good week😀

Still looking🔭🔭
| Moving Sonny |
Not very many different things has happened this week, we still did a
lot of referral lookups for the English district, so we can drop off
the bibles that they requested to them, but before we left we called
some of these people to see if anybody would actually answer so we
don't have to waste a whole bunch of time on the trains and buses and
later find out they are not home or something like that, but we
actually got a few people to answer and this one guy says "can you
send the bible in the mail?" and we were like "no but we can drop it
off at your house" and then their like "oh that's ok we don't want the
bible anymore" haha pretty weird stuff. Most of these looks up that we
have either don't want the bible anymore, never answer the door or the
phone and are never home so we basically dropped most of them.
This week we tracted a ton and haven't had a lot of success lately but
we did help a less active move ,his name is Sonny, kinda of a sad
story he was baptized about a little over 2 months ago, he was
previously a Jehovas Witness but he said he never believed in it and
that he was reading the Book of Mormon and told us that he got an
answer to his prayer that it's true but 2 months later he went back to
being a Jehovas Witness and when we were helping him move he had this
huge box of The Watchtower which is a magazine that they pass out, and
I asked him what those were and he said "oh I'm a Jehovas Witness and
I have been for the past 8 years." This dude forgot that he was
baptized into our church and it's only been 2 months. So we got all
his stuff into this van and there was no space in the van for us so we
had to cram 3 people in the back and basically lay on his things. It's
was a pretty long car ride and it was soooo uncomfortable and kinda
dangerous but it was pretty fun. Later that night we had 2 really good
lessons with less actives.
Sunday was really good except the the temperature was like -15, it was
freezing.
Also some other sad news, I don't know if you guys heard but a
missionary died in Pittsburgh in a car wreck and it so happens to be
that this missionary was really good friends with a sister missionary
in my district, it was really sad.
To end on a good note I guess I'll share something that I read today,
it was a lesson from the teachings from the presidents Howard w hunter
and he talks about how adversity plays a really big part and how its
essential for our eternal progress and that trials that we have here
are for our growth but if we come unto Christ he will ease our burdens
and help us with any trials that we face.

Referrals for days
Hey everybody how's it going?? This week has been a little different
because last week we had a zone meeting with president and he really
threw down about contacting referrals as fast as we can so that we can
have new people to teach and since Christmas to up until now or zone,
the Kingsbridge zone has been terrible at contacting referrals because
there's not enough time in the day to contact all of them, well at
least not in the English program because since Christmas they have
received like over 170 referrals and that is super crazy considering
the fact that we maybe get like 1 or 2 every week.
So basically this whole week we have been looking up all these
referrals, we have about 20 referrals that we have to do and they want
us to get them done as fast as we can so that kinda puts our own work
on hold because the travel alone to some of these places where these
people live takes a few hours every day by bus and by subway. But it's
been kinda fun to see some different parts of the Bronx and different
areas where I have never been to before.
Even thought with all of these referrals that we have to do we still
had a little bit of time to teach some really awesome lessons.
Last Saturday I was on a split with the district leader Elder Miller,
and we were working in his area and we had a really good day, I would
say that this split was by far the best split of my mission and we had
2 really awesome lesson, one with some investigators and one with this
one active family, I forgot what their names were but they were so
cool, they had a incredible convention story and we had a really good
lesson about holding on to the iron rod and about scripture reading
and how the scriptures can help us and give us answers to the
questions we have. Through prayer we can communicate to our Heavenly
Father and he sometimes if not always talks to us through the
scriptures.
On Monday we received news that we were gonna have a elder from the DR
come and stay with us in our apartment for a few days and that he was
gonna come that night so we decided to stay home for like a hour or
two after studies and clean the apartment, it was super nasty and
gross and we stayed way longer the one or two hours it was like 3 1/2
hour of straight cleaning but when we were done the place looked super
good and it looked like a totally different apartment. We threw out
all the nasty clothes that have been sitting in the closet for the
past maybe 3 years and we deep cleaned the heck out of it and by the
time we were done cleaning there was like 6 or 7 gigantic bags of
garbage. The cleanliness didn't last for very long because now 2 days
later there's stuff everywhere.
I don't know much about this elder except his name Elder Ramos and
that he served for 21 months and half of his mission he served in the
DR and half in Texas, but I think he came here to get residency
because he wants to live here with his dad, but I don't know why he
just didn't come after his mission was over, also another big thing is
that yesterday we found out that the process to get his residency is
gonna take a little time so he might be here for the next 1-2 weeks
instead of 1-2 but the good thing is that his dad lives in our area
and has been less active for about a year and so now that his
missionary son is here he might actually come to church now.
Also we found a really good food store to go shopping at that has
super cheap foods and so now I'm not just eating ramen all the time
although I do eat it pretty often Now I can actually eat some
healthier foods haha.

🎯
This has been a really good week, last Saturday was by far the best
day of this cycle. We might have taught more lessons in that one day
then we did the previous two week, and that's no a exaggeration, we
had like a whole two lessons taught the last two weeks and then this
Saturday we taught like 5 lessons and picked up 4 new investigators,
we don't know how legit they are yet but we have return appointments.
Sunday we had a way good lesson with this one kid, his name is Matthew
we knocked on his door because he was a referral from some other
missionaries but when he opened the door he said he has never known
any Mormons but he let us in, his friend was there too, so we taught
them the restoration and it was a super awesome lesson, we gave each
of them the Book of Mormon and told them to read and then two days
later we had another awesome lesson but just with Matthew and he read
from the Book of Mormon and we were able to answer his questions and
then we shared the Plan of Salvation with him and those two lesson
were so awesome we felt the spirit so strong, the issue with Matthew
though is that we invited him to get baptized and he declined it
because he said he was already baptized and he thinks baptism is weird
but I know that as long as we keep working with him and making sure
that he feels the spirit, then I know that he will make up his mind on
what he should do and that is to get baptized.
Yesterday we had a zone conference The Kingsbridge zone (us) and the
Westchester (in Yonkers) and it was a really good zone conference, we
mainly talked about how to better work with members so that they will
be excited and willing to do missionary work because right now we are
not getting any referrals or anything like that at all and the best
way to do missionary work is through members. This conference helped
me open my eyes and helped me understand how members feel and and what
they think about missionaries and what I can do better to help the
members. I love this area and this ward and the members here are
really awesome and they do so much for the missionaries already but
and I wanna do everything I can to help them be even better. I'm
grateful for this chance that I have to help other people and I know
as I help somebody out I feel the spirit more in my life and I feel
better and more happy.
