It was SICK week😷🤒

So I don't have much to report on for this week mainly because I was
pretty sick for four days and we didn't do much work this week because
I couldn't, it was like the worst cold or sickness I have ever had in
a long time, but whole bunch of no good things went down this week, I
don't really wanna talk about the bad but basically that's all that
went down this week, so sorry if you don't wanna hear it.

Some of the things that went down were our district leader went home
because he fell down the stairs and hurt his knee pretty bad and could
not walk. The next thing that happened was Sonny Diaz the guy that we
helps move who was a less active was found dead inside his house so
that was sad to hear and on top of all of this bad news we didn't have
a baptism for Gustavo this Saturday, his dad called us Friday night so
we went over there to see what's up and he basically told us that
Gustavo wasn't really listening to his parents and doesn't wanna do
anything they ask so they just cancelled the baptism, it was sad to
hear but we're gonna keep working with Gustavo and the parents until
they are ready.

Let's see what's else, I guess I could talk about the good things that
happened, on Monday we went out and did some tracting and the building
that we decided to do it in was totally inspired because we got 4 new
investigators well actually 5 but she was a single lady and we had to
pass her off to the sisters but Monday was a really good day and we
got return appointments for all of them.

And Yesterday we were on a split with the zone leaders and I went down
to work in their area with elder tabor, he is a really awesome elder
and something that I learned from him is that he is really good at
letting people know how much he cares about them and that's something
that I have been trying to work on so that I can have a better
relationship with the members and with my investigators.

That's basically it for this week the picture below pretty much sum up
our week of staying in the house for 4 days straight and not being
able to do anything.

Just a good week👍🏼

here's a picture of me and elder Jagneaux at the met.
Hey everybody how is it going?? This week has been really good for me,
I hope that you all had a good week as well.

So we finished teaching Gustavo all the lessons, we had to teach him
like three straight days so that he will be ready for his baptismal
interview later tonight. I said it in my last email but I'm really
happy that him and his family back on the right path, Gustavo is a
really awesome dude and he's ready to take this step in his life, he
also told us that he wants to go on a mission when he turns 18 so
that's also awesome. I'm super grateful that I got to stay here in
this area for this long and to help him get baptized, we had a lesson
with him on Saturday at the bishops house, at the end of the lesson
the bishop asked Gustavo if he's going to seminary and he wasn't
because his mom was to scared because it's too early and dark outside
and she doesn't want him to go out by himself, so every morning me and
elder Jagneaux have been waking up 30 minutes earlier then usual to
run to his house and pick him up and then take the bus to the church
so that he can go to seminary, sometimes it's super hard to get up
because we're so dang tired but it's a really good service opportunity
and we get some exercise out of it as well.

Last Sunday we got this awesome referral from some other missionaries,
this guy is super cool, his name is Luis and he's from the DR, he has
met with the missionaries down there and has been taught pretty much
everything, but he came here like a week ago and he came to church and
found the missionaries by himself but it was the wrong ward and they
passed him over to us and ever since then we have been teaching him
and it's been super awesome to teach him because he is really honest
and he really wants to change his life around because he has had so
many problems and trials in his life and he still does but he has been
reading the Book of Mormon and coming to church a lot and he already
knows that it's true so when he goes back to the DR he's gonna get
married to the bishops daughter and he's also gonna get baptized over
there as well, so we're basically teaching him the rest of the lessons
he's gonna make a little bit of money here and then go back.

So we've been tracting a whole bunch this week like usual and we
tracted into a whole bunch of English people that we could not teach
so we passed them off to the English missionaries but we also found
this super cool guy his name is Joel and we set up a return
appointment so hopefully he comes through because he seemed really
interested.

Patience🎈 🏃🏻

So this week was really awesome, a lot of good things happened this
week. To start off we almost hit our weekly goals that we set for this
last week, I honestly can't remember when was the last time we even
got close to hitting the weekly goals, I guess we worked harder this
week. Something that is for sure is that I've tracted more projects
this week then any other time of my mission, usually we just tract
regular buildings but this week we decided to tract some projects and
guess what?? We didn't find anybody haha I guess we're gonna stick to
tracting regular buildings in the future, plus there were not very
many people that spoke Spanish in the projects anyways and they stunk
so bad, pretty much in every single project we went to in smelled like
pee and garbage, because people just leave trash bags outside in the
hall and people just pee in the elevators because nobody cares😷😝

We finally got a new ward mission leader because our old ward mission
leader moved to Utah, the last time we had a ward mission leader was
my 3rd cycle, that was like 8 weeks ago and they called one this
Sunday so hopefully with a ward mission leader the work gets better
then it was before.

On Sunday we set a marriage date with the Hernandez family so that
they can be baptized, they set it for the 16th of April, that's right
before the next transfers so I will be able to be here for it, that's
awesome! So I think I mentioned Gustavo before but he's their son and
his records got lost, so he has to get retaught everything and and get
rebaptized and his baptism is gonna be on the 19th of this month so
I'm also really excited for that😄 the whole family has progressed so
much since I got here and it's been really cool to see them turn
around completely because before they didn't want to do anything with
the church.

On Monday we taught this cool kid, he looks like he's 30 but he's only
19, and we had a really good lesson with him on the restoration, he
seems like he has a lot of potential and he agreed to read the Book of
Mormon, hopefully he turns out to be a legit investigator that's gonna
progress, but we just have to be patient and take it one step at a
time.

Speaking of being patient I had to give a talk on patience for the
zone meeting this Monday and I learned a lot from what I had to study
and share in this training. I'm gonna write down a part of a general
conference talk that helped me to better understand patience. As we
are patient with the lord in our trials or whatever is happening in
our lives sooner or later he will help us overcome those things if we
do what he says and keep his commandments. I hope that this does some
good to somebody, because it did to me.

What, then, does it mean to wait upon the Lord? In the scriptures, the
word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and
trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness,
long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end.
To wait upon the Lord means planting the seed of faith and nourishing
it “with great diligence, and … patience.” Waiting upon the Lord means
pondering in our hearts and “receiving the Holy Ghost” so that we can
know “all things what we should do.” As we follow the promptings of
the Spirit, we discover that “tribulation worketh patience” and we
learn to “continue in patience until we are perfected.” Waiting upon
the Lord means to “stand fast” and “press forward” in faith, “having a
perfect brightness of hope.” It means “relying alone upon the merits
of Christ” and “with His grace assisting us, saying: Thy will be done,
O Lord, and not ours. As we wait upon the Lord, we are “immovable in
keeping the commandments,” knowing that we will “one day rest from all
our afflictions.” And we “cast not away … our confidence” that “all
things wherewith we have been afflicted shall work together for our
good.”

New Compañer👬

So this week was transfers, actually it was yesterday and guess what??
I'm staying in KB for one more cycle!! Except this cycle is a little
bit different because it's 7 weeks instead of 6 because something has
changed at the Mtc so the dates are pushed a week or something like
that.

I also got a new companion, Elder Jagneaux, I think the name is
Italian but he is actually 1/2 Mexican, he's way cool and athletic so
we're gonna play a lot of sports.

Elder Wilson went to be a office elder, he's been asking to be office
elder for ever so he finally got what he wanted. I had a really fun
time working with him and learned a lot from him, I'm gonna miss him.

Yesterday was the first day I got to work with elder Jagneaux and we
had a really awesome 1st day, we taught 3 lessons and they were all
really good, the best lesson was probably the one we had with one of
our investigators Raul, he totally opened up to us and basically told
us everything that been going on in his life and he really want us to
help him and his girlfriend. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he said
he would read it and pray about it and he also told us that he would
share it with his family so that's awesome.

I'm really excited for this cycle because I feel like I can learn a
lot from this companionship especially because neither of us have very
good Spanish and this gives me a opportunity to speak it more and get
better at doing missionary work.

That's basically it.

Love,
Elder Pugmire😀
