Snow

Ok so this week was the worst week lesson wise, we only taught 1 lesson to a investigator and we had a few member lessons but they don't count but I would say that it has been one of the funnest weeks because it snowed SOOOOO much on Saturday like 3 feet I think, and all we did for the next 3 days was just went out and shoveled snow, we just helped out a whole bunch of random people to shovel their sidewalks and their cars because the cars were totally buried in snow that is basically it and I got super sick but other then that that's pretty much it.

Pday on Thursday

100 Years Old Today!

Freedom Tower

This week has been all over the place but it been kinda fun, actually
to start out it has been super fun.  Last pday Wednesday me and elder
Wilson went down to south Manhattan to go to the freedom tower, it was
SUPER fun, the elevator ride alone was worth the money because it was
a really cool but the view form the top of the tower was amazing and
we basically saw the whole city from the top.

Like you all know already we go and serve food to these old people
every Tuesday and Friday but this week they invited us to go on
Thursday as well, because this lady her name is Mary had her birthday
and she turned 100 years old, she was born here and has lived here her
whole life, that's pretty crazy. Right now she is 100 years and 7 days
old and still drinks her coffee and tea every day and still seems to
be in good shape, makes me wonder about the word of wisdom is it
true??? Haha jk don't drink coffee or tea it's not good for you.

Saturday we got shot calls to see if we get transferred and im still
staying in Kingsbridge for another cycle with elder Wilson, but the
companion of elder Salceda elder rankin left and his new companion is
elder Gallego, he's the kid that's in Jill's ward so that pretty cool.

Monday we had a district meeting and they told us that we are not
having transfer meetings anymore because the Apostles said, I really
liked transfer meetings๐Ÿ˜• also a little while ago they took always
Yankees games so that's a bummer because I was looking forward to
going because everybody said it was a lot of fun.

After the district meeting we came home to eat some lunch and elder
Wilson told me that he wasn't feeling good and that he was gonna take
a little nap and the nap after the nap he woke up and told me that
there was no way that he was able to go out and do some work because
it felt like he was getting the flu and later that night he was
throwing up. The next day it didn't get any better and we were in the
apartment the whole day, it was the most boring day of my whole
mission it's was even worse then knocking on doors for hours and
nobody answering. By the end of the day I had almost read all of the
Our Heritage booklet, had like over 3 hours of language study and
watched all the videos on the prophets of the church in the gospel
library app.

On Wednesday we had a worldwide devotional for all the missionaries
that was about 2 hours long, some of the people we got to hear from
was Elder Anderson, Elder Bednar, Sister Oscarson, Brother Clayton and
Elder Oaks and some other people I can't remember right now but the
devotional was really good. And that is the reason why I didn't wright
a letter yesterday was because of this devotional and they didn't want
us to have to take time from pday so we are having pday today. And
today we are actually going to the Temple to do some Initiatories, it
will be super awesome. I think this will probably be my 3rd time going
and I wish we could go more often but we'll take what we can get.
Anybody who has a temple recommend and who has a temple close by
should be going as mush as possible because the blessing of the Temple
are incredible. D&C 43:16

Elder Holland๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป

This week has been really awesome! In my previous email I said that we
were gonna have Elder Holland come and speak to us on Saturday, and
sure enough to he did and it was super fun.

Elder Holland is a hilarious dude, he was cracking jokes left and
right and when he was talking to us he was just wondering around the
room doing all kinds of weird things, for example he was saying that
if somebody joins this church and then later on decides to go less
active they better not run into Elder Holland on the streets and get
out of his way because it would not be pretty, and after he said that
he just came up to a random kid in the room and just started shaking
him and pretended like he was choking him out, it was super funny. I
also got to shake his hand and that was really awesome as well after
we all shook his hand he said that he looked us all in the eye and it
didn't seem like we were having any big problems as a mission and so
he didn't have to chastise us and give us the discipline lesson. I
felt really good when he said that and so instead of being chastised
he was talking to us about how we need to understand our investigators
and go where they are so that we can bring them up and so that they
will be where we are. He gave a really good lesson and used John 3 and
4 in the New Testament to get his point across, in chapter 3 Jesus is
talking to Nicodemus and in chapter 4 with the woman at the well.

Elder Holland is my favorite Apostle for sure because he gives really
good talks and when he came here and started doing all kinds of
nonsense like talking about star wars and batman and making jokes and
stuff like that it just reminded me that he is a person and not a
robot and he has feeling and can related to you personally even when
he talks to a group of like 160 other missionaries.

After the Elder Holland meeting me and Elder Wilson got a bomb
cheeseburger from a place called Bareburger it was really good by far
the best Berger I have had so far.

We finally have a progressing investigator Aileen she has read in the
Book of Mormon and has a baptismal date๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ other then that things are
still the same.

WE GOT HEAT๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

So living in a apartment with no heater when it's like 1 degree outside really stinks, every night we sleep in 2 pairs of pants and like 3 shirts and sometimes hoodies, BUT we finally have heat!! The super finally came up to our apartment and fixed the dang heaters after we called and sent him text every single day like twice a day for the past 4 week in a row, and now I actually enjoy going home now.๐Ÿ˜€

Speaking of heat we got 5 new investigators this last week and it's been really awesome!! We were walking and some drunk guy who was walking his dog with a beer in his hand just stopped us and started to talk to us about random nonsense and then he started to cry, when we were talking to him these two other guys ran out of a store and they just started yelling and one guy pulled out a huge knife and was about to stab this other guy and then the drunk guy that we were talking to started yelling at them and we thought that they would just turn around and attack us so we just said bye and left because we didn't wanna die, but before we left we gave him out number and he gave us his, he seemed like he had some potential but he was just really drunk and probably didn't know what he was talking about.

Another weird thing that happened was we were tracting and we knocked on the door of a Muslim guy and he came out and tried to preach to us and we stayed at his house for an hour and a half, because elder Wilson wanted to hear what he had to say and kinda wanted to argue and prove him wrong and he did because the Muslim was just contradicting himself and the Muslims dido t believe in Jesus Christ so I do t even know why we were talking to him in he first place but we spend an hour and a half at his door and at the end he said that we could bring any scholar from our church and he would have him quiet in 10 minutes, we both were wishing that we had Elder Holland with us because he would destroy this guy in a second.

Speaking of Elder Holland, on Saturday we had a conference call with President and he told us something really awesome. He said that Elder Holland was coming to our mission on Saturday to speak to us, it's gonna be awesome and I get to shake his hand and tell him my name and where I am from. He is gonna chastise us so hard (just because every time anybody comes over to speak to us they always do) but it's still gonna be really cool to hear from an apostle.

Happy New Year!!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Last Week with Jay
It's crazy how it's almost 2016๐Ÿ˜ฎ this year has gone by pretty fast.

I don't really have much for this week just that I had a awesome
Christmas but other then that everything has been pretty much the same
except a few things.

We got 2 new awesome investigators. One of them is a sister of the 2nd
councilor in our ward Aileen and she has been taught all the lessons
before but didn't want to get baptized, but recently she has decided
to start listening to the missionaries again and we had a awesome
first lesson with her. We had her brother with us as a member present
and he shared some awesome personal experiences and bore a really good
testimony and we also bore our testimonies to add to his.

The second part was that we were knocking some doors not having too
much success and we finally got a lady to open a door for us and she
said she didn't have time right now but that we could come back the
next day. We felt like she didn't have much potential but we still put
her in the schedule and headed back home because it was getting late.
The next day we had a really good impression to go and visit this one
lady and when we got to her apartment she didn't answer the door, so
we decided to finish tracting the building and nobody was interested
and we finally knocked on the last door in the building and waited for
somebody but nobody answered so we started to leave and we walked down
the stairs. We stopped to look at the map for a second to see where we
were going to go next and like 5 minutes later this last door opens up
and this lady and her son comes out and they sees us and she starts
talking to us, so we walked back up the stairs pretty surprised, in my
head I was saying "what the heck somebody actually wants to talk to
us." This lady actually has some members in her family and her son
received a baby blessing in the LDS church down in Utah but then she
moved to New York and was looking for the church but could not find
it. She was pretty excited and wanted us to come in and teach her but
we couldn't because her husband was gone and there was not another
man, so we rescheduled and we are gonna have a lesson with her
tonight.

We finally had some success this week and it is awesome to actually do
something else besides just knocking doors, although knocking doors
and persistently going after it is what's gonna make success happen.
As long as we try our best then the Lord will take care of the rest
and good things will come not necessarily when we want them to and
sometimes not even in this life time but good things always come if we
put our trust in God, there's actually a really good Mormon message by
Elder Holland on that called Good Things to Come it's only 5 minutes
you should go and watch it.

Elder Pugmire
