Just trying to make things happen

Hello everyone,

So this week was kinda the same as last week with a few different
things that came up, I wish I could write some cool stuff but
unfortunately the work here is pretty slow especially this week
because literally everything cancelled every single day, we probably
only taught like 10 lessons or so.

We met with Endy this week and we brought Eric with us, he is a super
cool member and we had a great lesson on the restoration, he is really
interested but he is going to Arkansas this Friday for a week so who
knows what's gonna happen but we are gonna try to keep in contact with
him tho.

We also met with Samuel and he is still working a lot so we can hardly
meet with him, his work is also super far away and he doesn't have a
car so he has to walk, so he basically sleeps and work, but the last
time we met with him we had a good lesson about prayer and fasting and
he said that he will try fasting this week. We will also fast for him
so that he can get work off Sunday and Monday so he can come to church
and also we are having a 4th of July party at a members house and we
want him to come with us to get to know the member better and so he
can be surrounded by other people because the people that he lives
with are not a very good influence on him. If he comes I think we
would have a good time.

On Saturday we were gonna move Pauline and Caesar a couple of members
just down the street and we put off a good chunk of time for that but
they called us at the last second and told us that they were not
moving so we kinda had nothing to do so we decide to get dressed in
pros clothes and go out and but then the English elders got a call and
some other people were moving into our ward and needed help so we went
and helped them to get the stuff out of the storage and into their
house, it was good that we went because they didn't know anybody and
we were the only ones who were there to help them. After we got done
helping them they took us out to 5 guys burgers and it was good.

On Sunday we had out regular meetings and it was good at the end I
decided to go and talk to Michelle the lady that we helped move in and
she just thanked us for helping her move and she said that it was
really good for Spencer her husband because this was his 5th time
coming to church in 8 years so that was pretty cool, it was weird how
that worked because the Martinez (Caesar and Pauline) cancelled on us
and we were able to help out Spencer and Michelle and because of that
he came to church, hopefully he continues to come.

I think that's it for this week, happy early 4th of July to everybody,
have a great week!

Seeing Progress in the area👀

So this week was good, not as full of work as last week but we had
some good stuff happen.

We were able to talk to a lot of people but most of them were not
interested and I haven't wrote anything about Samuel for a while and
that because we haven't been able to meet with him for the past week
or so but a couple of days ago we decided to call him to see if his
phone was fixed and he answered and told us to come back the next day
so we decide to bring Brother Santos with us who is really awesome, he
actually worked for the NYPD for like 30 and was a detective and he
has some CRAZY stories to tell but anyways we go over there with him
and Samuel doesn't answer so we were like crap because Brother Santos
drove like 30 minutes out here for nothing, so that kinda sucked but
the next day we went again to see Samuel and this time he was home, he
expressed to us that he has been feeling super sad and lonely because
his Ex- wife doesn't let him see his kids and so his Father's Day was
really depressing but we were able to be there for him and I really
love talking to him, he has a lot of desire to be better but his past
life is  is what stops him and because of it he is super depressed,
but after we talked and shared a message with him, we decide that we
had nothing set later that the day so we were gonna come back with
another member to play some board games to get his mind of off all the
bad stuff that has been happening, he got really excited that we were
gonna do that with him and and that went well, he had a lot of fun
with us and laughed a lot and had a good time, he also has some other
problems with the word of wisdom so we decide that we are gonna keep
in contact with him more and try to visit him more frequently so he
doesn't get lonely and depressed and we are actually ending pday a
little bit early today so we could go over there, I'm really excited
to meet with him!

Another cool thing that happened this week was we were just tracting
knocking on doors and we weren't having too much success but we saw
this guy just standing on the sidewalk just looking at us and then he
decide to walk towards us and he asked if we were the Mormons and we
said yes and then we told us that we was meeting with the missionaries
along time ago but he moved to Connecticut, but now he's back and he
want to meet again, he expressed to us that he wanted a blessing and
that recently his life had been really hard, and that he want to be
closer to God and go to church, so we went to his back yard and we sat
down and talked to him for a little bit, he also seemed pretty down,
pretty depressed and so we talked to him about the atonement and he
really liked that, then he told us that he wants to be baptized
because he never has been baptized before and that he really want us
to come over again so that he can learn more and so we have a
appointment scheduled with him for tomorrow so we'll see how that
goes.

That's just some cool stuff that happened this week, also we have been
trying hard to work with the members a lot more so we can get member
presents with us so that the investigators feel more comfortable at
church and don't feel left out and will want to come to church because
the hardest thing to do is to get them to come and if they have a
friend it's a lot easier for them, so that's what we have been doing,
other then that everything is good.

Being Persistent

Hello everyone,

This week we had a lot of good stuff, we got a lot of good work done
and had a lot of success teaching people this week.

We have been extending baptismal dates to pretty much everyone and
everyone but like 2 people accepted to be baptized, one of them was
Yair's mom, we had a really good lesson with her, we were talking
about the restoration and we had Yair help us reach it to her and it
was awesome, we extended a baptismal date to her the first time and
immediately she was like no way so then we just went on with the
lesson and at the end of the lesson we asked her again and we sat
there for a little bit and let the spirit work on her and then she
told us that she would, it was a cool experience because we put into
practice what elder Bennet told us last week to be persistent with the
investigators, not too pushy to overwhelm them but get them another
chance to think about it.

That shows to me that we can't give up on anybody or drop them if they
are not progressing it just means that they need a little bit more
time so that the spirit can work on them and when the people are ready
then they will progress and accept to be baptized if we are doing
everything that we can, after all Jesus never gave up on anybody so we
will keep working with her and the rest of our investigators.

Hope everybody is doing well and happy Father's Day!!👴🏻

First Baptism!!!!

Another cycle has gone by, time sure does fly by way fast but me and
Elder Hinckley are staying together for one more here in Middletown,
we did get some new missionaries in our district another elder and a
new sister that just came from the Mtc so this next cycle should be a
super good one.

The last cycle ended on a super good note because.... we finally had a
BAPTISM!! It was the first baptism in this ward for over a year and it
was my first baptism of my mission and it was awesome. Jair was
baptized this last Sunday and a lot of people came to support him. His
mom who is not a member also came and we could tell that she had a
really good experience and that she could feel the spirit and so now
that he is baptized were gonna try to work with her so the she also
can get baptized also.

Don't have a lot of time to write because still have to do a whole
bunch of stuff but everyone have a good week!!
